Thoughts on Being in Front of the Camera

Hello everyone my name is Aliyah I Jones and I am an aspiring model/blogger and business manager at HifashMagazine. This post is long over due but, on the bright side I wanted to share my experience on my first time being in front of the camera. In the middle of November I did my first photoshoot with the talented photographer Ricky Codio. It was a bit of a challenge for me to adjust being in front of a camera because, I always took pictures of my brothers and sisters and smiled in selfies when I got bored. I realized taking selfies is not the way to become a model in the fashion industry. Posing and confidence is the key to have a successful modeling career and also have variety of different looks to attract different types of clients. Over the past couple of months I've been thinking about my career goals and what I wanted to do in my life. I realized modeling is a very risky career choice and I wasn't sure if I met the standards. I actually went to an open call in New York for  Major Model Management. At the time I was 14 (15 now) and 5'10 in 5 inch heels and I was the tallest girl and also the youngest that arrived there. When I walked in the room I could feel the tension in the girls and it was very uncomfortable for me because, I could feel them staring at me and looking me up and down in disgust. That's when I realized this industry is no joke and you have to be a very strong person to put up with this in castings during Fashion Week. When I met with the casting directors they said I definitely have potential but the only problem was my age and I was still in school. They never called back to say if I got the job or not which was okay because, that gave me a wake call on having a plan B in my career choice and I've decided to continue on being a model and also work on HifashMagazine and make it a worldwide brand.

I'm not giving up
